Resumen
In the original publication of this article, the interpretation of one of the results derived from the csQCA is incorrect. The correct interpretation provided in this correction. Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Costa Rica show, in Table 5, a combined presence of comparatively high-revenue capabilities and a high degree of democratic strength. These two are necessary conditions, but not a sufficient condition, for a medium or high welfare state development outcome. Panama experienced the same combination of conditions but ended up with a WeSDI score of 0.5895—i.e. low welfare state development.
