Resumen
This article offers an analysis of the educational interventions aiming to introduce teaching of drawing to two institutions founded in territories that were geographically disparate relative to the traditional European and American centres of artistic education: the Real Academia de Bellas Artes (Canary Islands, Spain) and the Academia de Pintura de Santiago (Chile). In order to trace this development of the teaching of drawing, we delve into the salient phases of each establishment, focusing on their historical antecedents, and analysing the speeches, public memories and acts of sessions performed between 1849 and 1869.
