Institutional responses against natural threats in the government of Chile: The earthquake and tsunami of 1657 in the city of Concepcion

Resumen
On March 15, 1657, civil and ecclesiastical authorities realized the ruin of the city of Concepcion product of an earthquake and a tsunami. This research analyzes the way in which the population and the authorities reacted to the impact of those natural hazards, and the various practices deployed in the process of recovery and immediate reconstruction of the city.
