Resumen
The present research aims to analyzing the relationships between water resources, their monopoly and the vulnerability established by the publicists of the time in the city of Valparaíso (Chile), as well as the linkage of these variables with the presence of social and natural threats. The time frame initiated with the first project of water supply to Valparaíso from the Aconcagua River in 1845 and culminates with the earthquake of 1906.
