Resumen
This paper analyzed the problem of consumer over-indebtedness in Chile in light of the Directives issued by the European Parliament and what has been done in this area by countries such as Spain, France, Italy and Portugal. In the first part, it refers to the notion, causes and problems generated by the over-indebtedness phenomenon in Chile. Then, it reviews how the consumer overindebtednessit has faced in Europe to avoid an insolvency situation. © 2020 Universidad Austral de Chile.
