Resumen
Young people face a world in which the terms of the social contract established in the 20th century between employers and workers, and between men and women, are changing. This paper explores young people's expectations regarding work and family, against the backdrop of a growing heterogeneity of youth biographies. Methodologically, the paper relies on data collected through a survey applied in 2017 to university students (N=1358) in Chile. Our results suggest that, although frequently characterized as either irresponsible or victims, young people vindicate the possibility of having their own life projects, although in a context still marked by gender inequalities and limited access to the labour market. © 2019 Instituto de Filosofia e Ciencias Humanas-UFRGS.
