dc.description.abstractEducation as a social right must be permanent, inclusive, participatory and motivating. Based on what has been stated, this study aims to determine if there is interest in adults in finishing their Basic Education studies, describing the reasons that influence the decision to participate in this learning process. This exploratory-descriptive qualitative research develops a semi-structured interview with 47 adults, including women and men between 30 and 80 years of age, belonging to central and upper sectors of the city of Viña del Mar, Chile. As a result, adults are interested in finishing their Basic Education studies. However, those who decide not to participate show reasons such as age, scarcity of economic resources, suffering from diseases associated with the elderly, insecurity, personal lack of interest and work performance, concluding on the importance of socioemotional learning. © (2023), (Universidad Austral de Chile).
