The main objective of this article is to analyze the association between public management performance and subnational development in Colombia, thus seeking to determine possible predictive variables of regional development. For this, a methodology for constructing indicators and variables for the intermediate level of government in Colombia is presented to later analyze the data through a linear regression model. The results show a strong relationship between budget execution and territorial development, reinforcing the need for greater institutional strengthening and management capacity building as lines of action for territorial development. © 2022, Universidad del Zulia.
