Resumen
Experimental healing studies in humans are complex and difficult to replicate in vitro. Hence, animal models are needed to study the different stages involved. The guinea pig (Cavia porcellus) is a model close to human physiology, including the lack of vitamin C synthesis, a precursor of collagen fibers for healing. The thermal injury in this animal makes it possible to study all the stages of healing, taking few days to show tissue repair in the processes with and without localized infection. The aim of this work was to systematize an experimental guinea pig (Cavia porcellus) animal model protocol for studies on healing with and without localized infection. © 2023, Universidad de la Frontera. Healing Effect of a Nano-Functionalized Medical-Grade Honey for the Treatment of Infected Wounds (2024)
Salvo, Jessica; Sandoval, Cristian; Schencke, Carolina; Acevedo, Francisca; del Sol, Mariano (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2023)Based on the qualities of Ulmo honey (Eucryphia cordifolia), a medical-grade honey (Ulmoplus®) has been developed. Relevant to this, the use of copper represents an emerging therapy for the treatment of wounds. Therefore, ...
